Nitrile is a synthetic material that resists chemicals like petrol, oils, grease, diesel, hydraulic fluids, solvents, paint thinners, acids, disinfectants, strong cleaners and most alkalis. It has 3 TIMES the puncture protection of latex and is often used by people with an allergy or intolerance to latex. People who have an allergy to peanuts will often also have an intolerance to latex as it is the same protein.

These gloves are powder free although they are as easy to get on and off as a powdered latex or vinyl glove. They fit just like a latex glove. In the past hospitals and medical facilities have tended to use latex disposable gloves for cost reasons. The price of these nitrile gloves has now dropped significantly and the superior protection they offer combined with the reduction in waste due to non-tearing and longer life, means that nitrile gloves are now the preferred disposable glove in advanced medical facilities and laboratories.
